Client Overview
An Illinois non profit representing 800 coalition partner service organizations coordinating research and legislative initiatives on behalf of its partners. Coalition partners cover all 102 counties and every legislative district in Illinois.
The Challenge
The Stevens Group originally worked with the client on their initial logo redesign and branding guidelines. As part of the organizations rebranding effort, they were looking for an updated website that incorporated their new style while adding technical and design elements lacking from their existing website. The new site needed to be developed on a platform to allow the client to host, maintain and grow the site after the initial site launch. The customer was looking for a crisp, clean look with cross device compatibility incorporating interactive elements including Google map searches, video and social media. This visually appealing website needed to highlight member organizations and emphasize the ability for visitors to make online donations.
The Solution
After analyzing the client’s requirements and wish list, we put together a proposal and scope to stay within the given budget. Our solution recommended implementing a WordPress site. As one of the most popular open source content management systems in the industry, WordPress is easy to maintain internally, flexible enough to add plugins for advanced design elements and inexpensive compared to other solutions. We implemented integration with existing donation, CRM (Customer Relationship Management), and social media tools. We also utilize Google Map APIs to customize a visual search tool to filter the 800+ member organizations by geography and/or specialty.
The Results
Combining our expertise in design, content management and web development, we produced an informational site on time and under budget. By integrating with the client’s existing solutions, Facebook, Twitter, Constant Contact and Little Green Light, we were able to minimize change to the client’s internal processes while significantly upgrading their online presence. After go-live of the initial site, the client changed course and decided to outsource on-going maintenance of the website to allow them to better utilize internal resources on other projects. They chose to continuing partnering with The Stevens Group because of our ability to understand the client’s needs along with the creative and technical know how to implement.
